January 22nd, BrockTV hosted the 6th Annual RenderThis Student Film Festival at the David S. Howe Theatre at Brock University. Over the course of almost three hours, we showed off 18 submitted student films: trumping last year's record! This is a legacy of the design journey over the course of creating of the event, resulting in a fabulous night!
I started work on the film festival early on with lots of ideas for the visual direction.
I finally arrived at the key design just before launch.
I wanted a sharp design, but compact to include all the film names and relevant information in two pages back to front.
In-betweens for each of the films provides light to both the judges and the audience for checking programmes or marking down notes.
Every film maker recieved a certificate for being featured in the festival, in addition to prizes for audience and jury choices.
I worked off of just one poster this year, using social media and a single strong brand to garner attention.
And a cute little ticket bought you a night at the movies!
Filmed and edited by me, the trailer for the festival was very fun to edit, playing around with the dynamics of speed.
Overall, the night resulted in a very fun event and with 18 submitted films, the 6th Annual RenderThis Film Festival was a rousing success. Providing continuity of the event next year, the festival is only looking to get bigger and better.
